Strange and mysterious band is Forbidden Knowledge. Their music is not easy to listen due to their non linear structures / patterns of composition (guess they like Iannis Xenakis, ed). But this band wants to break the boundaries of the genre offering a music among black metal, death metal and avant-garde.
Define Forbidden Knowledge in one tweet (140 characters)
Active since 1996 Forbidden Knowledge is a mixture of aggressive death/black metal infused with dark ambient. It’s in the veins of Avant-garde/experimental metal.
Whats is the current status of the band from a musical standpoint and why the audiene should give a chance to listening to Forbidden Knowledge
As a multi-instrumentalist, Forbidden Knowledge has always been a solo project. I’m now working on my fifth album called ORDO TEMPLI OCCVLTVS MAGISTRI. For this recording, I have explored a unique procédé of musical writing based on nonlinear and Pi patterns. This non-repeating method creates a brand new genre of metal and give access to infinite possibilities of writings. All my albums are filled with aggressiveness and aroused with a mystique ”côté sombre”. People with opened mind and capable to think outside the box in terms of musical creation will discover a totally different world. Explore unlimited fields and horizons is the key of this project.
How important are the lyrics, tell us the lyrical concept behind the music
The lyrics are a form of denounciation and always require several researches. The main subject is based on a dark multi-dimensional world fueled with secret conspiracy theories, manipulations, distorsions and lies. It explores everything that is hidden to the public or considered secret or even forbidden. It’s the wikileaks of music. A huge reservoir of the most atrocious behaviors of the so called rulers of the world. The dark dormant secret fantasies of the elite put on lyrics. The arcana arcanorum and the secretum secretorum revealed. Many thanks to all other conspiracy theorists researchers who have shared with me precious informations through the years !
What are the bands’ aspirations. Where would you like to be in the next couple of years
Since the beginning I had that idea to maintain Forbidden knowledge a one man project but now I want it to become a live band. There is so much talented musicians in the world and I like to connect and share with people. From my personal experience, I have done many shows in my life with other side projects. I have also recorded many bands over the past years in my studio. I’m an opened-mind person and I’m ready to hit the stage with brutal force.
Memento Mori: You can add whatever you consider opportune
So many thanks to Growl Metal Zine for this interview. Three years ago, I have created a website to help underground bands get more visibility on the web. Feel free to post your band at any time: http://www.reverbnation.com/
